    Description

My father purchased this saddle used from Miles City Saddlery in 1933 for (bridle, chaps, blanket included).  He rode for Las Uvas Ranch in New Mexico for two years riding fence lines.  His name and the ranch name are on a plaque on the cantle of the saddle. After the war he brought horses, and this saddle, back to our farm in New Tripoli, Pa., where he continued to ride for many years.  I can remember being hauled up into the saddle and taken for a ride until Kansas started to act up and my father would toss me into a tree until he got the horse settled down and return for me.  I am sure my mother never knew.  His chaps are included and are in amazingly good condition, additional photos available.  The chaps have two large leather pockets sewn in the front.  The rope and spurs were purchased in Montana 15 years ago to replace the originals.  The stirrups were originally tapaderos (see photo) but replaced.  The wool underside of the saddle has also been replaced.  Note that the horn is covered in plaited leather, a nice design, and there is tooling in the leather.  The woolen Navajo saddle blanket was one of many he brought back with him.  The saddle is still in using condition and close to 100 years old!  This is a rare find to have original equipment and a photo, very collectable.  I also have a photo of "all of the hands" in front of a cabin but the saddle is not visible but I will include it if you want.  Las Uvas Ranch is still in operation today and as a child we visited it several times as my father loved it well.
Saddle - seat 14", pommel 16", cinch 80", fenders 18", 9" wide adjustable.  Stirrups (not original) 5" wide.
    Chaps - 38" long, 24" wide per leg.  Waist 40".  Each leg has a leather pocket 11" x 7".
Spurs - 8 spinning prongs with leather strap
